It's the last day of the free Jessica Sprague photo editing class and these are the two projects I did today. First is the Storyboard and this was so fun to play around with. It would be great to get some of these printed and framed especially when I have such beautiful little grandkids to put on display!

The last project was the photo collage. This lesson had awesome tips and made it so simple to make a collage. I used photos from Parker's fifth grade graduation. You'll probably be seeing a few more of both of these fun things! Hope you're having a great weekend!

It's My Birthday!!

Today is my birthday and it's a BIG one! Normally I wouldn't be so excited but tonight my awesome daughter Debbie posted this on Treasured Scrapbooking where we both hang out! She bought me a ticket and I'm going to Tennessee to see these cute adorable grandkids and can't wait to give them all a big hug! Love the signs they made! If you can't read them it says "See U On Aug. 5"! Thanks Debbie! You're the best and I love you to pieces!

For those of us lucky enough to be taking Jessica's Spragues FREE photo editing class I hope you're enjoying it as much as I am. Confession time here...I'm very challenged in PSE! There are so many cool things you can do and I want to learn but it's not easy for me. But this class makes it so awesome! Jessica's videos are step by step and I'm loving the results. Here's a few photos where I've added frames, text, did hand tinting and used some fun grunge and texture masks. I can't wait to try more grunge!

I'm still playing around with templates and attempting to get better at photo collages. I had this one of the boys playing in the yard finished and my computer froze up! Grrrrr!! So I started over and it was easier the second time. Went to save it and you guessed it....it froze again! Now I was mad and determined so I created it the third time (it was really easy by now!) and voila! Here it is!

I couldn't resist scrapping these cute photos of Carter eating watermelon. What kid doesn't love this juicy stuff and love those drips running down his chin and belly!

It's been such a relaxing weekend and it was so great to have an extra day off. Back to reality tomorrow but it was fun while it lasted! More later and enjoy your week!

Parker graduated from LMS in May and love this photo of the whole family at the ceremony. This is my daughter Debbie and her husband and four kiddos. With six people in the family it's not easy getting a good photo! I love this one. It was for Ginger's challenge over at Treasured Scrapbooking to use the number 6 in your title. Wish we lived closer and could see them more but we stay in touch by phone and of course by photos and sharing our scrapbook layouts. Sure miss them alot! I think I need to plan a trip to Tennessee!

Couple New Things

It was a beautiful weekend so no excuses about it being too hot to walk! I'm trying to walk at least 5 days a week and it's been over a month! Trying to form a good habit! Saturday Karen and I went for pedicures and brought her four year old granddaughter along. Cali had her fingers and toes painted and got two cute flowers on her big toes! Bet her mom was surprised when she got home this weekend. Got a little scrappy time in too and here's a couple I did today. I'm trying to finish up the June challenges on a couple of sites since July is right around the corner. Can you tell I've been playing around with some hybrid stuff? Made that cute Soon circle, fun colored journaling and 9 grid photo collage! Thanks Jessica Sprague for the great tutorials!

Digi Diva....Not!

OMGoodness! I decided to try a couple of Jessica Sprague's free digi tutorials and thought it would be super easy. She supplies the basic layout and all you need to do is add a photo, some journaling and voila you're done! NOT! My photo got all wonky, when I wanted to add text the font size kept changing, and my move tool has a mind of its own! I must have listened to her instructions at least twenty times before this worked for me. So here is my beginner layout and more than likely the last digi you'll see from me. Digi girls....I bow down to you! Give me paper, adhesive and some rub-on letters!

I've been playing along at Treasured Scrapbooking for their fun crop this weekend and thought I'd share what I've finished so far. Eva issued a challenge to make a card using a stamped image. It's been a long time since I used my watercolor pencils but this was fun.

For Karen's challenge we had to use fruit so I made this quick card with my October Afternoon scraps.

And I've been wanting to scrap this cute photo of two of my cute girls for a long time! Lizzie thought switching sunglasses with Mommy was very fun! There are a lot more challenges to play along with so I'm off to work on the next one! Enjoy your weekend!

Girl's Night Out

Who doesn't love a girl's night out?! To celebrate Karen's birthday we went to Boatwerks for dinner and enjoyed a wonderful dinner outside along the lake. A night with these girls is guaranteed to provide lots of laughs and silliness! The people inside the restaurant were grinning through the windows as we tried to take our own group shots! We assured them we were locals and not tourists trying to capture some vacation shots but I'm not sure they believed us! Karen got a free sundae as a birthday dessert but that wasn't good enough for her. Oh no! She had to order key lime pie so guess who ate the sundae? Yup! Me! How funny that as I was trying to take a shot of the sundae she was doing the same thing! I think we're both camera junkies. And I love the shot of Karen, Marta and Jean trying to make sure the photos caught their "best" side! It's easy to see why I look forward to these fun nights. I love these girls!

Little Red Scrapbooking Guest Designer

I've been keeping a little secret from you but now I can tell! I was asked by Sara to guest design for her this month at Little Red Scrapbook! The kit was packed with October Afternoon's Cherry Hill line and is my favorite style of papers and embellishments. Obviously I was excited, thrilled and nervous all at the same time. The Everyday Life layout was created with an exclusive sketch from Inspired Blueprints! How cool is that! Sara has a great DT and the creativity of this group of girls is awesome! Need a quick project?

Last week I made these glass magnets. I punched a circle of patterned paper and adhered it to the back side of the glass marbles, added a precut magnet circle and voila! Done! This is a Maya Road tin that I painted. Quick and easy and I think it's pretty cute! One of my friends is hinting that her birthday is coming up. We'll see!

I'm really into cards for some reason right now. Maybe it's that good feeling you get when you use up your scraps. I told myself no purchased cards this year and so far I'm right on target. Here's a couple I made using the Treasured Scrapbooking May kit.

Simply Perfect

Every now and then I create a layout that is so simple and I love it for what it is. This one of Lizzie falls into that category. She's so adorable and being the only girl with three brothers I know she will always be the princess, the queen bee, the adored sister. Here's to the Charmed Life Lizzie!

Tulip Time Photos

Today is the last day of our Tulip Time Festival and it's been a great week. Lots of sunshine and mostly warmer temperatures although today is a bit chilly! The final Parade of Bands is this afternoon. I went downtown yesterday and watched the Dutch Dancers at lunch time. We have hundreds of high school girls and a few guys who dance several times a day and alumni and community groups also perform. The dance lasts about 15 minutes and I'm proud to say I danced all through high school and for many years as an alumni and it's great fun. The dancers wear about 8-10 pair of socks to keep the wooden shoes on and broken shoes are part of the hazard. We have a local factory that makes the wooden shoes for dancers and visitors can buy a pair to take home. Notice the Holland Peanut store in the background? That's our local candy store that has been in business since the early 1900's and is still owned by the same family. Fresh roasted peanuts and tons of candy that can be purchased from big bins! Here's some shots of the dancers.

Look at the tulips planted all along the boulevard! This street is in an older section of town and I acutally grew up right on this street! The trees are in bloom and it's just gorgeous! I took a couple close up of the tulips. We have so many different colors and varieties and they are all so different. Even though the photo isn't good I had to share the Shirley variety! I never knew this tulip existed until this year!

Treasured Scrapbooking Reveals

I love the first of the month when it's time to share the reveals with all the girls over at Treasured Scrapbooking. Here's a couple I did using the fantastic Kit#2! Natalie got her ears pierced just before her 8th birthday and she was so excited to have me "notice" something different! It's hard to believe how fast they grow up but she assured me even though her ears are pierced she's still a little girl! Love that!

Dreary Saturday

Yesterday was a gorgeous sunny and warm day and I was stuck at work. Today it's cool and rainy! Go figure! I'm so itching to be able to be outside but our Michigan weather is just not cooperating. Since I was stuck inside today I've been playing in my scrap room. Here are a couple of cards. A friend asked for an owl card for her sister who had surgery and collects owls. I hope she likes it! The birthday card is for a challlenge at Moments-2-Remember to make a three loop bow. I'm lovin' these bows and thanks to Melissa for a great tutorial! You'll be seeing more of these bows on my cards! And I love the cute birthday cake die I picked up at 50% off this week. Gotta love a bargain!

Could it be Spring??

Oh my!! We reached temps in the higher 60's today! Spring has been so slow in coming to Michigan this year! We had a cold fall, an early snowfall and a long winter. Now it seems like spring is dragging her feet before she makes an appearance. It's supposed to be nice for the next couple of days so hopefully we can enjoy some sun and warm temperatures. Today was the 15th so that means more fun DT reveals over at Treasured Scrapbooking. The gallery is rocking tonight! Lots of great creations from the DT girls and the members are rocking the layouts and challenges this month. Here's some of my latest stuff.

Bad Blogger!

It's been too long since I updated but sometimes life gets a little hectic. I've been in a cleaning mood at work and I can't even tell you how many trips I've made to the dumpster! My office was so overloaded with papers but I'm close to being finished. Today I'm sharing a couple of April 1 reveals over at Treasured Scrapbooking. This was a fun kit and I'm working on a few more projects for the 15th so be sure to check back. And since it's almost Easter, here's a card I made for a challenge this week. Weekend Crop

We had a Women in History Crop over at Treasured Scrapbooking this weekend with some fun challenges posted. For Lisa's challenge you had to use Martha Stewart colors and the words "It's a Good Thing". This was perfect for this photo of me and my friend Marta who is a real life Marta Stewart! This girl can create some awesome food!

Debbie's challenge was for Amelia Earhart and we needed to use one photo, an Earhart quote and lots of white space.

This last one was issued by Cherrie and is a blind challenge. We all had the same instructions but couldn't upload our layout until 7:00 on Sunday! I'm off to see what the other girls did with this one! Very fun idea! Come and check them out!

It's my sweeties birthday and he is so sick with strep throat! I feel bad for him and since he has no appetite we won't be eating any birthday cake today! This is the card I made for him using the awesome March kit at Treasured Scrapbooking

Aren't those little cupcakes cute?! It's the Martha Stewart cupcake punch I bought yesterday and I'm having fun playing with it. The candles and sentiment are Hero Arts stamps, another new purchase!

This is a layout our daughter Debbie did using this old photo of her dad! Grandma recently went through a bunch of old slides and had them made into prints and this has to be one of my favs! Look at those shoes and the big cuffs on his jeans! And don't you love the Tarzan book?! I've been married to this guy for 40 years and can't believe what a cute little boy he was! Great layout Debbie and very fun way to use this old photo!

Friendship Frame

Everytime the three of us get together (me, Karen and Marta) we have such a good time! Our project this month was making some cute frames inspired by Greta Hammond at CHA. We all used the same photo of the three of us but each one turned out so different. Miss Marta is the embellishment queen and we had to stop her from adding one more thing! Karen decided to use black tags and love how dramatic it turned out. Thanks for another fun day girls and can't wait for our next scrappy day!

When you live in Michigan when March arrives it's a reason to celebrate! We'll still get lots of cold weather and a bit more snow but the worst of the winter has to be behind us! Just a quick one to share with you. After I finished the TS kit this month I took my scaps and made layered flowers and topped each one with a button. I used an old package from some embellishments, added a cute topper and voila! Thought this would be a cute RAK or fun gift for a scrappy friend.

There's a cute story behind the owl cards. Whenever I call my grandsons in TN and tell them it's Nana their response is "Nana Who?"! It's become my nickname with them so I thought these were perfect! Animal Wall Canvas

Marta and I made these cute canvas wall hangings for Nicki to hang in her baby's room. Nicki saw these in a catalog and wondered if "she" could make them. Well, "she" isnt exactly the crafty type! lol! After days of giving her tips and advice we asked if it would be ok if we just made them for her. She was thrilled! It only took us a few hours and aren't they cute? Her bedding is brown and pink so they should be perfect! Baby Lily will be arrivng on February 13 and we can't wait to meet her!

It's been a long and cold Michigan winter and it was so fun to go shopping and hang with my girls this weekend! We did some major damage at the cash registers and Karen was the lucky winner not once, not twice but three times! Ding! Ding! Ding! You go girl! lol! Good thing she drove hubby's new truck so we could fit all our goodies in the back! Great time girls and loved spending the day with you!

Fun in Michigan

So what does a little southern belle do when she visits her Nana and Papa in Michigan? Play in the snow of course! Debbie, Lizzie and Carter arrived by plane while Daddy and the big boys drove with most of the gear, including Lizzie's mittens and boots. With no patience to wait we found a pair of big ole boots and some mittens and off she went! It didn't last long but she loved being outside. Luckily Daddy arrived the next day and the rest of the visit she had her own gear. You sure look cute in that hat Liz!

It's New Year's Eve and it seems like a good time to share a layout that means a lot to me. I have two wonderful friends who are there for me through thick and thin and I hope they know how much they mean to me and how lucky I am to have them in my life! The journaling reads "we are each of us angels with only one wing and we can only fly by embracing each other". How true! Love you girls!

Paint a Pot

What a fun time I had painting these plates for my grandkids! My local Paint a Pot store has a take home box so you can paint on your own schedule and then bring them back in and they finish them for you. This photo shows the plates before they are fired. I picked up the finished products tonight and they are super cute! I'll post a finished picture tomorrow.

Baby It's Cold Outside!

We have a ton of snow! We were totally snowed in on Friday and I loved being home all snuggled up and warm! I ventured outside to get a shot of my bird bath and take a look at my 14 inch tall Ugg boots! Can't see them?? That's because they're buried! The weather report is predicting another storm. Looks like we'll definitely be having a White Christmas!

I'm so lucky that Debbie keeps me supplied with lots of photos of my precious grandchildren! When she called and told me Tennessee had snow and she had photos to share I was so excited! Can you imagine how exciting it must be to be four years old and wake up to snow! I couldn't resist scrapping these fun photos of Lizzie. Hope they bring a smile to your face too!

Online Buddies!

Meet Joni and Robin! This afternoon I got to meet an online friend from Colorado! Joni was in Michigan to visit relatives and we arranged to meet for coffee this afternoon. We all hang out together on Robin's site, Moments Two Remember, and it was really fun to get to know each other in real life! Robin owned my favorite lss but closed down about a year ago.I really miss stopping in to see her but we still hang out online. Now that we've met it will make online chatting so much more fun.

25 Days of Christmas Album

Michelle Lanning issued a great challenge over at Treasured Scrapbooking to do the 25 Days of Christmas album featured on Ali Edwards blog. This was so much fun! I've been working on it since last night and finally have it finished. The whole concept is that it's finished and beginning December 1 you add a photo a day. By Christmas, my album will be complete! How easy is that!

Happy Thanksgiving

It was so fun making these cute placecards for Thanksgiving! The turkeys are made out of felt and my granddaughters were so excited when I brought them over. For a little more formal look you can use a felt swirl or leaf. I can remember as a child being so excited to help my aunt set the Thanksgiving table and being allowed to assign the seats with cute placecards. My name was always next to my favorite big cousin! Sweet holiday memories!

Crafty Saturday Fun

There's nothing like a great crafty project and spending time with good friends. Karen, Marta and I had a great Saturday making these cute felt flower pins. Of course, it only took two trips to the fabric store since we didn't read the directions the first time but that was part of the fun! The pattern was a freebie in a Heather Bailey package and they were super fun to make. We have several colors of wool felt and different fabrics so they'll all be a little different. We joked about making them and selling them on Etsy but that was before we realized how labor intensive these little things are! Hmmmm....this might be a perfect Christmas gift for some special friends! Maybe you're on my list!

Signs of Fall

I just love the beautiful fall colors and took a few shots the other morning on my way to work. Our weather forecast is for wind and snow showers which means the leaves are probably nearing their peak so thought I'd better get some shots before that happens! We took a trip to the apple orchard and picked almost 30 pounds of yummy Golden Delicious and Ida Red apples. Why do they taste so much better than the ones in the store?? Fall activities are so fun and love the crisp cool air. The cold weather for the next couple of day should be followed by much warmer temperatures this weekend. Better get out and enjoy it while it lasts!

Wow! Can't believe it's been so long since I posted. Work has been crazy as usual and I also took a few days to visit Debbie and the kiddos in Tennessee. What an awesome place to live! Every morning I walked a couple of miles (only got lost once!), the weather was terrific and the views are gorgeous. Nothing like living on the top of a mountain! My Dad turned 80 on Friday and we had my family over to celebrate today! He's had cancer and has one lung but he is going strong and enjoying life. He was the oldest one at his party (of course!) and the youngest was his great granddaughter who turns one this week! What a blessing to be able to be together and celebrate this wonderful man! Here's a photo of me, my dad and my brothers and a photo of Dad and his wife Julaine. We miss Mom but glad Dad has found someone to share his life with. Happy Birthday Dad!
